WHAT IS THRUSH?        Baby has ORAL THRUSH     Man has Mouth Yeast Infection

ORAL THRUSH ON LIP

Thrush is candidiasis that has spread from mother to baby. Babies can pick up thrush  from mothers who have any  type of yeast infection or vaginitus.  Thrush is sometimes called oral moniliasis.  It can be picked up from nursing bottles and nipples or damp towels or from someone's hands. Everything for baby should be sterilized if there is a candida yeast infection in the family. Above are pictures of adults with thrush but it is more common in babies.  Sometimes babys don't such because their mouth hurts from thrush. If the mother who has a candida yeast problem cures her yeast problem, then baby's thrush problem will likely go away by itself.  Antibiotics can cause a thrush problem.  The cause of thrush is overgrowth of candida albicans in the gastro-intestinal system (gut).  Proper diet is needed so the good bacteria will overcome the bad bacteria in the gut and then the yeast problem will get better. Some symptoms of thrush are white patches on the inside of the mouth, infllamed red patches on the skin and bad breath. Causes of thrush are from antibiotics which can lead to a depletion of good bacteria, too much sugar, stress and allergies.
